This venture to partner with East African Christian Camping stemmed from a relationship formed in 2014, in the wilds of Australia.

Meet My Partners

Sandrine

Beautiful Rwanda Tours, Kigali, Rwanda

Sandrine and I met in 2014 in Nowra, Australia, where Christian camping brought us together despite very different backgrounds. As roommates and coworkers, we shared a season full of adventure—laughing, learning, and navigating challenges side by side. It was also a year of many firsts for Sandrine—rappelling, backpacking, even learning the meaning of the word “squeeze” (for pizza sauce, jeans, a car full of stinky hikers and a good hug)—and a meaningful opportunity for me to come alongside her as she adapted to a completely new environment.

After returning home to Rwanda, Sandrine went on to start her own travel company, Beautiful Rwanda Tours. Over the years, I’ve watched it grow and flourish, continually inspired by her courage.

Australia 2015

Rwanda 2025

Nearly ten years later, she reached out while planning a trip to the U.S., and that reconnection became a turning point. In 2025, she invited me to Rwanda to help train a team of rock climbing guides. In just three days, we strengthened their skills, introduced updated techniques, and built a deeper understanding of how to manage risk.

This year, I’ve been invited back to continue that work—equipping those same guides at a higher level while also training a new group in the fundamentals.

Trainings are planned for the second half of June.

Enock &
Musana Camps

Musana Camps
Buikwe District, Uganda

Enock, the Director of Musana Camps, and I met through Sandrine during my time in Rwanda last year.

He had come to Rwanda to facilitate a camp leader training and, I was to run the activities between his teaching sessions.

With only a brief introduction, we jumped into leading the training—and it quickly felt like we had been working together for years.

Enock invited me back to support Musana Camps facilitator training and attend the African Christian Camping (ACC) Conference in September. It didn’t take much convincing—I was in.

After my time at Musana Camps it felt like my involvement in East Africa was just beginning.

This year, I’ll return to Musana Camps for the following events…

  • ACC-led facilitator training in early June

More information in ACC Training section…

  • In August, I’m organizing a team from the US, to travel to Musana Camps. We will be taking on a construction project, building small-scale structures to equip staff with practical skills.

    JOIN US!

  • Beyond the set dates, I plan to support curriculum development and the ongoing growth of Musana Camps’ training programs.

African Christian Camping (ACC)

At the 2025 ACC Conference, I had the opportunity to meet board members, camp leaders, and a host of up-and-coming facilitators. The week was filled with content sessions, games, songs, and stories about the growing impact of Christian camping in East Africa.

This year, ACC has launched a first-of-its-kind training program for the region, designed to bring standardization, certification, and accessible training to those pursuing Christian camping leadership.

Below are the ACC events I hope to attend in 2026!

  • Christian Camping Leadership Certification Program: Level 1

I’ve been invited to contribute as part of the faculty for the new training program

    • Starting in March online

    • In-person training at Musana Camps in June.

  • ACC will host its annual conference in Tanzania this September, which I hope to attend again.

  • I plan to travel to Nairobi, Kenya in late August/early September to connect with members from ACC.

YOU!

Your support is essential for all that God is leading us to accomplish in East Africa this summer.

There are many ways to get involved—whether through prayer, encouragement, giving or even joining the team. Every contribution helps equip and empower this work.

I am deeply grateful to walk alongside such a faithful and diverse group of individual, partnering together to see lives transformed through adventure, community, and the love of Christ.

Through all of these opportunities, it has been clear that God has been the greatest partner of all—guiding connections, opening doors, and shaping the next generation of leaders in East African Christian camping.
